Dear Tempe Police Employees,
Just wanted to take a minute to say “thank you” to all members of our great department. Over the years, I have sent out many Chief’s Updates, thanking each and every one of you for your hard work, dedication, professionalism and continued support. Yesterday, as many had the day off in celebration of Independence Day, many employees were required to work. I, too, attended the 4th of July celebration, specifically to make sure that I had the opportunity to personally thank each and every police employee I had contact with for their hard work and support.
Like most all years, the celebration went off without a problem……no major issues and the weather was nearly perfect. Tens of thousands in attendance had a great time, were in a safe environment, and were able to leave the event in a timely, safe manner. This does not happen without a great deal of planning and hard work on behalf of all police employees!
A special thanks to the Tempe Police & Fire Honor Guard, as well as our Pipe & Drum Band. They were special guests at this event and kicked off the event with presenting our flag – as our Pipe & Drum Band played. This Honor Guard is truly a great tribute to all members of our department. Their new uniforms looked fabulous – with impeccable attention to detail. In fact, this same unit was asked to present colors at the Mayor’s inaugural ceremony this past Monday. Once again, their performance and appearance was outstanding!
I’m very proud of this Honor Guard and Pipe & Drum Band and sincerely appreciate all their hard work, and professional efforts – and for going above and beyond to represent our City and our Police & Fire departments!
Have a great summer and stay safe……..
Tom
