Chief Tom Ryff Featured In Ottawa Spirit Magazine

Recently, Chief Tom Ryff has been featured in Ottawa Spirit Magazine.

Excerpts from the article:

Tom Ryff has spent his entire 30-year career with the Tempe Police Department (PD), serving in every area of the organization. In November of 2006, he was appointed police chief, with oversight of 540 employees and an operating budget of $74 million. After his appointment, Ryff assembled an executive team and command staff to implement a reorganization strategy that has transformed Tempe PD into a technologically advanced law enforcement agency with four primary goals: fight crime, provide quality service, provide a supportive environment for employees, and promote organizational development and innovation.

By infusing the department with staff, technology, stronger community partnerships, training, and intelligence-driven policing, Ryff quickly took the organization from headlines such as “Tempe Crime Rates Highest in Southeast Valley” (6/6/07, Tempe Republic), to “Tempe Efforts Cut Crime Rate Eight Percent” (10/24/07, East
Valley Tribune).
