Message from the Chief – February 29, 2012

Dear Tempe Police Employees,

Autumn Barber had two healthy, beautiful twin babies on January 24, a boy and a girl names Anson Timothy and Ayla James Barber.

Tram Mai from Channel 12 spent the entire day at the fundraiser for Tim in August 2011.  Tram’s follow up interview with Autumn and Tim’s parents, Barb and Jim Barber, can be seen at the link below.

Brothers Steve and Frank Razo Honored as Officers Of The Year By Two Separate Organizations

Today it was annnounced that Tempe Police Officers Steve and Frank Razo were honored as Officers of the Year by two different organizations. My congratulations goes out to these fine officers and I consider it an honor to serve with them.

Chief Ryff

From today’s official media release:

Fighting Crime: A Family Affair in Tempe

Brothers Steve and Frank Razo honored as Officers of the Year

Tempe Police Officers, and brothers, Steve and Frank Razo were selected as the Officer of the Year from two separate organizations. Officer Steve Razo, the elder of the two, was selected as the 2010 Officer of the Year by the Palo Verde Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Officer Frank Razo was selected as the 2010 Officer of the year by the Tempe Elks Lodge #2251.

Officer Steve Razo is an 11 year veteran of the Tempe Police Department and he was commended several times for outstanding police work by his supervisor. Officer Steve Razo is extremely motivated and is known for knowing what crimes are occurring in his assigned beat and sharing that information with other officers.

Officer Frank Razo is a 10 year veteran of the Tempe Police Department. Officer Frank Razo routinely demonstrates his willingness to take a leadership role within the Patrol Division and is always at or near the top as it relates to his work product and activity.

The Razo brothers have been very successful in their chosen profession as Law Enforcement Officers and are currently serving the Patrol Division as Field Training Officers. The responsibility of training new Tempe Police Officers is not taken lightly and the selection of our Field Training Officers is made accordingly. Both Steve and Frank do a phenomenal job and have taken on this additional level of responsibility while maintaining great balance between their training duties and their day to day work load.

Fighting crime is the number one goal of the Tempe Police Department. Officers Steve and Frank Razo continue to work diligently to fight crime and maintain the safety of our residents and visitors.

The Tempe Police Department is proud to share with the media and public the news of these well deserved awards.
